In spring of 2014 we picked up Tally to join our family. Her owner felt she was just too much horse and mentioned she had been used on barrels. She had not ridden Tally for at least 2 years, so I was led to believe I would have my work cut out for me. Tally did have her quirks. She was very claustrophobic and would react when she felt over pressured. But she was no fool and poured her heart out to please. Her second ride with me we went over 10 miles. I exposed her to riding alone, (then we met up with a friend half way and rode together), water crossing, vehicles on the road, a dairy, and even after all of that she was still willing picked up a canter from a walk and show me she knew how to do flying lead changes. I was in love! We went on several trail rides together and by late summer I was letting novice/beginners, and even nervous riders take her for a spin. She was a huge hit! There were times her worry would get to her and she felt a bit trapped, but as soon as I got on her her fears would melt away and then she would behave perfect for the other riders. I miss her so much.
Tally's sire is the great First Preference! (He was Superior Western Pleasure Multiple Halter and Futurity Winner 9th Yearling Stallion APHA National Championships National Champion Produce of Dam Group member 5th APHA World Show 2-Year-Old Western Pleasure Futurity World Champion Performance Sire Honor Roll Sire.) Tally was born in Florida but made her way to the great state of Idaho!
Other greats in her breeding include Rapid Robin, Two Eyed Chico, My Painted Robin, and Skipters Lad just three generation back on her pedigree. She also has Two Eyed Jack, Painted Robin, Skipster, and King Fritz on her 5th Generation. Many greats in the power packed pedigree!
